Living on a fixed income is tough when people are subsisting on the proceeds from stock market investments. Many people don't have the pensions that have disappeared from the menu of benefits offered by employers. And even those that have them find their benefits continuously pared back.
Whether they're living in mobile homes carefully cutting their spending, or in the home they bought decades ago, seniors in the U.S. are making do with a lot less than they had at this time last year.
