I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, but at this point Citi and B of A could suck up an endless amount of cash to no effect. There's a reason for business bankruptcy. It's a solid framework that provides a path forward - either to rebuilding a company or dissolution of it. It's been very successful tool used frequently by the airlines industry.
That said, I realize they're both too large for it and nationalization appears to be the better solution to a very bad problem.
